Tribute to Pierre Levie (1916-2010), a key figure in Belgian cinema. A visionary and jack-of-all-trades, Levie left behind an astonishing body of work, combining ethnographic curiosity, a spirit of adventure and a love of the seventh art. In partnership with Sonuma, three little-known films are being screened: Préhistoire du Cinéma (1959), an animated film tracing the emergence of cinema and its inventors (many of whom were Belgian!), Avec le Cirque au Congo (1952), the incredible story of a tour of Africa, and L’Expédition Minerva (1953), the chronicle of a journey to India in Belgian cars. The films will be accompanied by commentary from Philippe Reynaert and Françoise Levie, Pierre's daughter,... and Pierre Levie himself, through excerpts from interviews.
